This workshop aims to generate a space of research and intersection between dance, theater, sound and performance, exploring the different possibilities that the body and voice possess as fundamental tools of dramatic expression, with the goal of rediscovering new ways of creating and connecting with freedom on stage.
The starting point is the study of the energy of the dancer-actor-performer. How can we mold, carve, sculpt our own muscular strength? A quality of energy is a particular way of moving and thinking based on certain principles that enable and restrict the way we operate. Each type of energy involves a different kind of association and imagination. One of the goals of this workshop is to develop the flow of energy in the body and provide a repertoire of energy qualities that participants can use when approaching their creations.
The workshop comprises three interrelated axes:
1)Physical training that seeks a different type of presence from the everyday body-mind. Through different movement techniques and playful exercises, we will work on body awareness, energy flow, listening, and observation.
• Wind Dance: training to develop energy flow (self-renewal of energy), which the actor’s organicness depends on. It is an air energy (with a ternary step), in which we will work: lightness of the body, flexibility of the spine, attenuation, rhythm, actions in the space (open-close, throw-catch, pull-push, hit-caress), reactions, thrusts and counter-thrusts.
2) Vocal training where the voice-movement and sound-movement-soundscape relationships will be explored. Individual and group exercises based on some images and a short text. Improvisation through sounds and singing as a way to improve listening.
3) Composition: a personal creation based on material produced in the workshop and on the many topics proposed by the participants.
